On June 2, 2023, the Public Works Bureau of the Tainan City Government held a training workshop on the 11th floor of the training classroom of the Yonghua Civic Center for staff from various functions to attend a course titled “difference between unlawful profit seeking and convenience for the public” on integrity and the rule of law. First of all, the Civil Service Ethics Office promoted the ethical norms and code of conduct of civil servants and the specific action plan of the Integrity Convention, reminding staff to refuse improper gifts from those who may pose a conflict of interest in the performance of their duties, avoid improper contact, and implement the registration mechanism of relevant incidents.
Prosecutor Luo Jui-chang from the Taiwan Tainan District Prosecutors Office was invited to deliver a lecture to staff on the topic of “How to Face Legal Proceedings in the Pursuit of Integrity - How Citizen Judges Influence Legal Judgements” The lecture covered topics such as the Anti-Corruption Act, bribery and profit seeking for private gain offenses, illegal disclosure of classified information, the difference between unlawful profit seeking and convenience for the public, and the newly implemented system of citizen judges.
